Former major league all-star Jose Offerman has been banned for life from the Dominican league for punching an umpire during an argument on the baseball field. Offerman, the manager of the Licey Tigers, appeared to hit first-base umpire Daniel Rayburn in the face or neck with his fist during a heated discussion in Saturday's playoff game against the Cibao Giants.
