When Manny Ramirez was added to this Los Angeles Dodgers Team most LA Dodgers fans knew what they were getting... the best hitter in all of major league baseball today.

Never mind all of that stuff that went on in Boston the guy can flat out hit but the one thing I think I can say with 100% confidence is that no LA Dodgers fans expected Manny Ramirez to have the type of impact he would have in the club house and on other members of this Los Angeles Dodgers Team.

Can You say Andre Ethier?

Andre Ethier is batting .509 in the last 14 games and he now leads the Dodgers with 20 home runs. Ethier just seems to be a different player. Manny Ramirez arriving to play for the LA Dodgers is the best thing that could have happened to Dodgers baseball and Andre Ethier.

James Loney and Matt Kemp have also benefited from Ramirez' arrival because the Dodgers lineup is now longer and pitchers are working a lot harder to get through the lineup and more often then not these days there are runners on base by the time Kemp and Loney get to the plate.

The biggest impact Ramirez has had on the Los Angeles Dodgers Team has been in demonstrating to the younger players like Ethier, kemp, Loney and Russell Martin how much work is required to be a good hitter in the MLB.

Offensively this team is clicking right now with Russell Martin leading off, Ethier in the 2 slot and Ramirez batting 3rd. Before he went down with an injury, Jeff Kent was also starting to tear it up offensively hitting behind Manny Ramirez. With Jeff Kent down I think you go with James Loney in the 4 spot Joe.

All I can say is why haven't the LA Dodgers already resigned Derek Lowe?

I shutter to think where this Los Angeles Dodgers Team would be without Derek Lowe this season and the thing I like about Derek Lowe is that he's got post-season and World Series experience. If you remember that's why Paul Depodesta signed this guy... because Lowe was coming off a World Series MVP performance.

Hell Derek Lowe is the guy that lifted the curse on the Boston Red Sox!

And don't look now but D Lowe seems to be pitching better now that Greg Maddux has joined the LA Dodgers... btw the same thing happened a couple of years ago the last time Maddux joined the Dodgers.

Chad Billingsley has turned into the stud pitcher the Dodgers always though he would be and has filled in admirably as the #2 on this Los Angeles Dodgers team.

How hot is Billingsley heading into the playoffs?

Chad Billingsley is 10-3 in his last 16 starts and he's lowered his ERA to 3.02 from 3.71.

Brad Penny came off the DL the other day, pitched out of the bullpen and couldn't record an out. I'm sorry but lately it seems like all Penny wants to talk about is the option on his contract for next year that the Dodgers haven't picked up yet...

The LA Dodgers are weakest in the bullpen and it seems to me that Joe Torre would like to use Penny out of the pen.

The Cubs did it with Kerry Wood and I think Penny would be awesome coming out of the pen for one or two innings for this Los Angeles Dodgers team that could really use some help out of the bullpen.

Probably the best bit of news to come out in the last few days is that closer Takashi Saito pitched a simulated game and didn't report any problems. According to The LA Times, Saito will be activated on Saturday.

The LA Dodgers are in Colorado this weekend with a 3 1/2 game lead on the D-backs.
