So it turns out it’s the Angels’ town.
Forget renaming themselves the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim; lately the Angels have made themselves all comfy right at Dodger Stadium.
The Angels beat the Dodgers again there Sunday, the 6-5 victory giving them a three-game sweep.
The Dodgers weren’t swept at home by anyone once in 2009. Hadn’t been swept here since the Astros did it May 9-11, 2008.
The Dodgers were enjoying an outstanding homestand until up showed the Angels, apparently unimpressed by the team’s "This is my town" marketing campaign.
It was the first sweep at Dodger Stadium ever by the Angels, who have won eight of their last 11 here.
Sunday the Angels made Carlos Monasterios look like a rookie who had barely pitched above the Class-A level until this season, chasing him with four runs on seven hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings.
The Angels, of course, have been making a lot of teams look bad of late. The victory completed their longest road trip of the season at 11-3 and left them a season-high six games over .500 (36-30).
The Angels are now 12-3 since Kendry Morales went down with a broken leg.
Despite a struggling offense, the Dodgers were 8-2 on their homestand until the Angels’ arrival. Now a three-game losing streak sends them off on a nine-game road trip, the final three at the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
The game did feature one notable matchup: the Weaver brothers hit against each other for the first time. Jeff Weaver struck out, and Jered Weaver grounded out.
Jered Weaver, however, picked up the victory, raising his record to 6-3. Brian Fuentes pitched a scoreless ninth, earn his 10th save and second in two days.
